The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a renowned destination for adventure trek trips in Nepal, known worldwide for its breathtaking beauty. Situated in the heart of the Annapurna Conservation Area, this trek offers an exhilarating experience for nature enthusiasts and art lovers alike. This challenging yet fulfilling journey encompasses the entire Annapurna Massif and can be seamlessly connected to other trekking routes, making it a comprehensive adventure. Standing tall at an impressive altitude of 5416m above sea level, Thorong La is the highest point of the trek and one of the world's highest pass treks. Since its opening to tourists in 1977 AD, it has captivated the hearts of many. The short Annapurna Circuit trail spans a total distance of 120 km (74.56 miles), allowing trekkers to immerse themselves in the wonders of this remarkable region.

Our exclusive short Annapurna Circuit trekking package and itinerary have been specifically designed for adventure enthusiasts who have limited time but still want to experience the majestic trail. This 14-day journey begins in Kathmandu and takes you through picturesque paddy terraces, lush green valleys, and breathtaking river views as you drive to Besishahar, where your first night will be spent. The next day, after a hearty breakfast, you will continue your journey to Dharapani in a local Jeep. Although we deviate from the traditional trail, you will have the opportunity to explore captivating villages, witness numerous waterfalls, and immerse yourself in the beauty of lush green valleys.

After Dharapani, you will embark on a trek, allowing you to acclimatize to the high altitude. The following morning, after a satisfying breakfast, prepare your backpack for a 6 to 7-hour trek to Chame. Along the way, you will be treated to a diverse range of flora and fauna, as well as mesmerizing mountain vistas. Over the next few days, you will traverse through varying climates, passing through charming Tibetan villages and glacier lakes, and enjoying close-up views of the Annapurna Ranges, Alpine landscapes, and Yak meadows.

Upon reaching the summit of Thorong La-5416m, the highest point of the trek, you will be amazed by the awe-inspiring panoramas of the Annapurna ranges. As you continue your expedition, you will encounter the sacred Muktinath Temple, a place of immense significance for both Hindus and Buddhists, surrounded by enchanting Tibetan-influenced villages. Today, you’ll depart from Kathmandu on a nearly eight-hour drive (depending on traffic conditions) via a tourist bus. Throughout this journey into the hills on the Prithvi Highway, you’ll be accompanied by the untamed rivers Trishuli and Marsyandi. Both of the rivers are celebrated for white-water rafting. The meandering highway reveals more of the countryside of Nepal next to its sides, incorporating lush greenery, streams, villages, agricultural lands with green paddy plants, and astounding mountain vistas.  Upon arriving at Dumre, we turn north on a narrow but paved secondary road to Besisahar. We can enjoy the picturesque mountain outlooks en route. Stay in Beshishar

Max. Altitude: 800m/2624.67ftMeal: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Hotel

We make an abrupt ascent to Chamje and keep up with our trek on the trail along the east bank of the meandering Masryangdi River. We now move across a suspension bridge and ascend uphill through fields of corn, barley, and potatoes, and then through forests of bamboo and rhododendrons, all the way into a large highland ahead at the Village of Tal (1,511m). Tal is the first village in the Manang district that is situated on a flatland besides the sandy beach and river at the bottom of a huge waterfall. From here, we trek past the village of Khotro (1,860 m), the alpine forest, and other villages, and finally make it to Dharapani (1,960m).

Max. Altitude: 1960m/6430.446Meal: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea house/Lodge

We depart from Dharapani and pursue the trail that first climbs up abruptly and then makes a soft descent to the west. Subsequently, we reach Bagarchhap. It is a small village influenced by Buddhist culture and consists of Tibetan-styled houses. The trail now climbs through fir and pine woodlands and then passes by bridges and a waterfall amidst the higher oak and maple trees. Through steep stone steps, the trail finally reaches Chame (2,710m), the headquarter of Manang district, which exhibits the sublime outlooks of Lamjung Himal (6,983m), Annapurna IV (7,525 m), and Annapurna II (7,937).

Max. Altitude: 2710m/8891.076ftMeal: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea House/ Lodge

Today, we trek on an abrupt trail through thick woodland, which bends to unlock the noteworthy curved rock face soaring 1,500m from the river. From this point on, forests and heavy vegetation disappear. Afterward, we’ll move across the river time and again via suspension bridges. As the trail opens and exhibits the U-shaped valley of Manang, situated in between two massive snow-capped peaks, we witness the astounding and spell-binding mountain vistas around us. Eventually, we reach Pisang village (3,300m).

Max. Altitude: 3300m/10826.77ftMeal: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea house/Lodge

We are presented with the point where the main trail separates into two routes to reach Manang. We take the upper route that passes through Upper Pisang via Ghyaru village, which showcases charming stone houses. We also observe the alluring panorama of majestic mountains such as Pisang Himal, Annapurna, etc. in close proximity. Today, we take pleasure in the soft colors of the wonderful landscape along with contrasting vegetation. We now arrive at Ngawal. The village showcases a gompa and aged juniper trees. The trail now progresses downward to Mungji and eventually leads to the celebrated Thakali village of Manang (3,519m). En route, we can see the harsher environment created by the cold and dry climate.

Max. Altitude: 3510m/11515.75ftMeal: Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerAccommodation: Tea house/Lodge

It's day eight, and today you’ll rest and acclimatize in Manang in preparation to face the higher elevation in Thorong La. You can take medical advice regarding acute mountain sickness at the Himalayan Rescue Association outpost and observe the splendid views in Manang. If you don’t want to rest, then you can visit nearby places such as Gangapurna Lake (3,525m) and Cave Gompa (4,000m), which flaunt picturesque vistas comprising the entire Annapurna range, Tilicho Peak (7,134m), Pisang Peak (6,091m), Chulo Peak (6,584m), Thorong Peak (5,416m), and many more. But it is strongly recommended to rest and acclimatize in order to complete the entire journey safely. Never underestimate the higher elevations and their adverse effects on the human body. Negligence may result in the loss of life.

Today, we follow the trail that advances across a stream, then ascend above Manang to Tenki village, and continue to scale out of the Masryangdi valley. The trail now changes its direction to the northwest, up to the valley of Jarsang Khola, and passes through pasturelands, scrubs of juniper trees, and continuously acquires elevation. Making our way past the small village of Ghunsa, we traverse the thriving meadows to the wooden bridge across a small river. In the end, we land up at Yak Kharka (4,110m). The word ‘Yak’ refers to a long-haired, domesticated, short-legged oxlike mammal found in the Himalayan region, and ‘Kharka’ means meadows or pasture. Basically, Yak Kharka is also another pastureland.

However, if you desire an extraordinary adventure during the perfect season, we provide a range of seasons for you to choose from. Please indicate your preferred season for an unforgettable journey.

Autumn Season: September to November

Autumn is the ideal season to embark on the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek, just like in other parts of Nepal. During this time, the rainfall decreases, allowing for sunny days that showcase the vibrant greenery at lower altitudes and stunning scenery. The climate is generally pleasant, with warm temperatures and stable weather conditions prevailing. This period presents a wonderful opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring Himalayan ranges and immerse oneself in the beauty of lush green valleys, including river valleys. Typically, tea houses along the trail are frequently fully booked due to the high number of tourists, so it is advisable to make reservations in advance to secure accommodations. Occasionally, congestion may occur along the route. If you are considering embarking on the Short Annapurna Circuit, plan and ensure a comfortable stay at the tea houses.

Spring season: March to May

Embarking on the short Annapurna Circuit trek during the spring season guarantees a remarkable experience. The longer days, excellent weather, and pleasant temperatures create an ideal environment for exploration. Along the trail, you will be enchanted by the essence of spring, witnessing vibrant blossoms, the melodious chorus of birds, verdant greenery at lower elevations, and magnificent mountain vistas as you ascend to higher altitudes.

Winter Season: December to February

The winter season, encompassing the months of December, January, and February, is generally not recommended for high-pass treks like the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek. However, if you are fortunate, you may encounter favorable weather conditions. Although it can be quite cold, with the appropriate gear, you can still enjoy the journey with fewer fellow travelers along the way. While we cannot guarantee a successful crossing of the Throng La Pass, if you are up for a challenge, our team is here to assist. Typically, the weather during this season is unstable and subject to frequent changes. Snowfall, storms, and avalanches are common occurrences. Nevertheless, we offer a remarkable winter trekking experience, with only a few exceptions.

Monsoon: June to August

It is not recommended to embark on the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek during the rainy seasons of June, July, and August. However, if luck is on your side, you may still have a fantastic trekking experience. The precipitation can pose challenges, but with appropriate gear, the trek can still be considered. Occasionally, landslides, cloudy weather, or heavy rain can obstruct the path or disrupt transportation due to road closures caused by landslides. This can result in poor visibility. Nevertheless, if you are contemplating this journey during this season, we are delighted to assist. However, please note that the success of the trip cannot be guaranteed at all times.
