The short Dolpo Trek is a moderately simple journey that encompasses the lower section of the Dolpo Trek. Referred to as the Lower Dolpo Circuit Trekking, this trek provides an exhilarating camping experience within the Shey Phoksundo National Park in western Nepal. The remarkable yet demanding trek to the remote Dolpo Region is now accessible to tourists, who can embark on this adventure by joining a local trekking company. It is important to note that individual travelers are not permitted to undertake the Dolpo trek without the assistance of a local agency.The thrilling and fantastic expedition to the most secluded Dolpo Region offers an intense level of challenge. The main attractions of the short Dolpo Trek consist of mysterious desolate terrain, intriguing local customs, Bon's cultural practices, historical landmarks, rich heritage, heavenly picturesque landscapes, centuries-old monasteries, the stunning Shey Phoksundo Lake, and a National Park filled with diverse flora and fauna. The variety of plant and animal life in the park continues to entice more visitors each year. The plant species found in the park are highly diverse, with the upper Himalayan regions featuring barren landscapes.

The high meadows of the Himalayas are dominated by various plant species including rhododendron, caragana, shrubs, salix, juniper, white Himalayan birch, and silver fir. Additionally, the park boasts 286 species of ethnobotanical significance. Rare wild animals like the snow leopard, grey wolf, musk deer, blue sheep, Goral, great Tibetan sheep, Himalayan Thar, jackal, black bear, and leopard also call this park home.

We are preparing ourselves for an unforgettable adventure as we set off on the Lower Dolpo Trekking Expedition. Prior to our departure, we will make sure to arrange all the necessary arrangements to travel from the historic city of Kathmandu to Nepalganj. It is advisable to spend a night in Nepalganj, a town situated at a lower elevation, before catching an early morning flight to Juphal. Upon arrival at Juphal Airport, we will be warmly greeted by the local crew and commence our journey towards Dunai, the administrative center of Dolpa District.

Our 18-day Lower Dolpo Circuit trek takes you through Dunai, Tarakot, Laini Odar, Nawarpani, Dho Tarap, Numa La Pass (5190m), Pelung Tang, Dajor Tang via Baga La Pass (5070m), Ring Ma, Shey Phoksondo Lake, Shyanta, and concludes in Juphal.
