The trail winds through a steep and narrow valley, eventually crossing back to the south bank of the Marsyangdi River. After breakfast today, we will embark on a journey from Pisang to Manang Village, covering approximately 20 kilometers along the picturesque and less-traveled route through Ghyaru and Ngawal. This trek takes us through the upper region of the Manang district, which is shielded from the full impact of the monsoon by the Annapurna Range. From upper Pisang, there are two paths available: one to the north and one to the south of the Marsyangdi River, both of which converge again at Mungji. The southern route, which passes through the road and airstrip at Hongde (3420m), requires a descent to lower Pisang and involves significantly less elevation gain compared to the northern route. However, the views of the mountains along the upper trail via Ghyaru and Ngawal (3660m) are far superior, and this trek will assist in your acclimatization. We will start from Pisang, passing through Green Lake and continuing to Maini Wall before crossing the suspension bridge. After more than an hour of ascent, we will reach the ancient village of Ghyaru, where we can take a break for tea or coffee while enjoying the monasteries and stunning mountain vistas. We will then continue our trek along a gradual path to Ngawal, where we will stop for lunch. Following lunch, we will descend to Mungji (3500m) village, surrounded by pine forests. Our trek will then take us to Bragha (3470m), known for its historical monastery, gompa, and Buddha Park. Finally, we will take a short trek to Manang, where we will stay for two nights.

Max. Altitude: 3510m/11515.75ftMeal: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Lodge

Manang is a stunning village that provides numerous hiking trails and alternative routes to day exploration, which are ideal for acclimatization to the increasing elevation. Following this, we will return to the hotel for lunch. After a brief rest, we will take a memorable excursion to Braga to explore the historical monasteries and gompas. If you wish to visit Ice Lake, please remember to pack a lunch, as it involves a longer hike. We will spend the night in Manang and prepare for the ascent to Thorong La Pass at 5416 meters.

Max. Altitude: 4200mMeal: Breakfast, Lunch , DinnerAccommodation: Lodge

Today’s trek is one of the shortest, taking approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach Yak Kahrka (4033m) from Manang via a gradual trail. This segment features a landscape with less greenery, although if you travel between June and August, you will be greeted by vibrant flowers. In contrast, the other months present a more arid and challenging environment. The path ascends steadily through Tengi and Gunsang, departing from the Marsyangi Valley and progressing along the Jarsang Khola Valley. After a 2-hour trek from Gunsang through the serene Himalayan landscape, we will arrive at Yak Kharka (4033m), where we will pause for lunch and spend the night. Following lunch, we will hike to Chuli Base Camp to better prepare for the upcoming segment and elevation gain.

Max. Altitude: 4033mMeal: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerAccommodation: Lodge

After breakfast, prepare for the trek to either Thorong Phedi (4450m) or High Camp (4850m). The trail is relatively easy, but the elevation gain and reduced oxygen levels may lead to some fatigue. You will trek through the moraine, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, within the narrow avalanche valley. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can affect anyone in this area; therefore, it is essential to stay hydrated, consume sufficient food, and maintain a stress-free mindset. You will cross several suspension bridges, pass Letder, and navigate the Tilicho Lake Trail before crossing the river to reach Phedi, where you will stop for lunch. If you wish to continue to High Camp, you can hike for an additional hour, which will be beneficial for the following day.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Seasons

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is known for offering stunning views of the Himalayas, diverse terrains, and rich cultural experiences. The best times to undertake the trek are during Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May). For those looking for a less crowded experience with similar conditions, December and August are suitable alternatives. The off-peak periods for the Annapurna Trek are during the Rainy Season (June to August) and Winter (December to February). Here's a breakdown of the seasons, highlighting the reasons for peak and off-peak times:

  • Autumn (September to November): The prime trekking season with clear skies, minimal rain, and pleasant temperatures. Daytime temperatures range from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), while higher altitudes can drop to -10°C to -5°C (14°F to 23°F).
  • Spring (March to May): Favored for trekking due to its mild climate and clear skies. Lower elevations are lush and vibrant, while higher altitudes may still have snow, though the risk of heavy snowfall is reduced. Daytime temperatures typically range from 10°C to 35°C, with higher altitudes dropping to -10°C to -5°C (14°F to 23°F).
  • Summer/Monsoon (June to August): Characterized by significant rainfall, particularly in lower and mid-altitude areas. Trails can become muddy, increasing the risk of landslides and making it difficult to witness the mountain views. Daytime temperatures usually range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), with cooler conditions at higher elevations, where temperatures can fall to around -5°C to 5°C (23°F to 41°F).
  • Winter (December to February): Not recommended due to heavy snowfall and the risk of storms and avalanches. Winter trekking is possible but challenging, with the potential for frostbite. Daytime temperatures range from -5°C to 10°C (23°F to 50°F), and nighttime temperatures can drop significantly, particularly at higher altitudes, reaching -20°C (-4°F) or lower.

Accommodation for Annapurna Circuit Trek

Our Annapurna Circuit Trek package includes eight nights of comfortable lodge accommodation in the mountains and one night in Pokhara at Hotel Crystal Palace. Mountain lodges typically offer twin-sharing rooms designed to provide warmth, basic comfort, and a welcoming atmosphere after each trekking day. For solo trekkers, we will arrange a private single room whenever available, although this cannot be guaranteed at all locations due to limited capacity in high-altitude villages. All selected accommodations are chosen for their cleanliness, safety, and friendly service, ensuring that you enjoy a restful stay throughout your journey on the Annapurna Circuit.

Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

During the Annapurna Circuit Trek, our package includes three full meals each day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as per the itinerary. Meals are served at local mountain lodges and teahouses, offering a variety of Nepali, Tibetan, and continental dishes to keep you energized throughout the journey. Breakfast typically includes items such as eggs, porridge, pancakes, or bread with tea or coffee. Lunch and dinner feature options like dal bhat, noodles, soups, rice, pasta, and seasonal vegetables. All meals are prepared fresh and designed to support your nutritional needs at altitude, ensuring a balanced and enjoyable dining experience during the trek.

Wi-Fi and Internet:

Wi-Fi and internet access are available at most lodges along the Annapurna Circuit, but the quality and speed vary significantly depending on the location and altitude. In lower regions, connections are generally more stable, while in higher areas, the service can be slow or unavailable due to weather and limited infrastructure. Many lodges offer Wi-Fi on a pay-per-use basis, and the cost increases as you ascend. Mobile network coverage is partial, so it is advisable to purchase a local SIM card before the trek. Overall, internet access is possible but should not be fully relied upon during the journey.

Drinking Water:

During the Annapurna Circuit Trek, we provide treated spring water as a complimentary and safe drinking option throughout the journey. This purified water is sourced from local springs and filtered to ensure it meets hygienic standards. Bottled mineral water and hot boiled water are also available at mountain lodges, but these options are payable and the cost increases at higher altitudes. We strongly recommend using treated spring water to minimize plastic waste and support environmental conservation efforts in the Himalayas. Carrying a reusable water bottle is advised to make refills easy and to contribute to a more sustainable trekking experience.

Hot and Cold Shower:

During the Annapurna Circuit Trek, both hot and cold shower facilities are available at most mountain lodges. Cold showers are complimentary, providing a basic option for trekkers. Hot showers, however, are a paid service due to the limited energy resources in the higher regions. The cost typically ranges from USD 2 to USD 4 per shower, depending on the altitude and lodge. Hot water is usually heated using gas or solar systems, which makes it valuable and sometimes limited. We recommend planning your shower routine according to lodge availability and weather conditions to ensure comfort throughout the trek.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Difficulty

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is considered a moderate-level trek, making it suitable for beginners who have a reasonable level of physical fitness. The trail involves long walking days, gradual ascents, and varying terrains, but no technical climbing skills are required. The major challenge is altitude, especially when crossing Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters, where proper acclimatization is essential. With adequate preparation, steady pacing, and guidance from experienced trekking staff, most first-time trekkers can complete the circuit comfortably. Overall, it is a rewarding journey that balances adventure with accessibility for well-prepared newcomers.

Transporation

We provide public transportation from Kathmandu to Dharapani via Besisahar as part of the Annapurna Circuit Trek package. After completing the trek in Muktinath, your return journey will be arranged by public bus or shared jeep, depending on availability and road conditions. These options are reliable and commonly used by trekkers. If you prefer a private jeep for greater comfort and flexibility, it can be arranged at an additional cost. For customized transportation or any special requirements, please contact Himalayan Trekking Path, and we will be pleased to assist with suitable arrangements.

Trail of Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek starts from Dharapani. The first two days, from Dharapani to Upper Pisang, follow a dusty trail that can be affected by local jeep traffic. Despite this, trekkers are rewarded with stunning scenery, including lush green valleys, traditional villages, and panoramic views of the Manaslu, Langtang, and Annapurna ranges. Beyond Upper Pisang, the trek continues along dedicated trekking trails for approximately 5 to 6 days, leading to Muktinath Temple. These higher sections are quieter and more scenic, offering an immersive experience of the region’s natural beauty, culture, and serene mountain environment.

Guide for the Annapurna Circuit Trek:

Himalayan Trekking Path Pvt. Ltd. provides a professional, local English-speaking guide for the 9-day Annapurna Circuit Trek. The guide’s salary, meals, insurance, transportation, and trekking gear are fully included in the package. For larger groups, additional guides will be assigned to assist your journey and ensure a smooth experience. If you prefer a guide who speaks a specific language, such as Spanish, German, or French, this can be arranged for an additional cost. Please let us know in advance if you require a particular language guide so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Porter Support for the Annapurna Circuit Trek

We hope you are strong enough to carry your backpack for the Annapurna Circuit Trek. While most trekkers can manage their own backpacks, first-time visitors are advised to limit their load to no more than 10 kilograms for comfort and safety. For a smoother and more comfortable journey, you may choose to hire a porter. Porter service is not included in the standard package but can be arranged separately. One porter can be shared between two trekkers, carrying up to 18 kilograms. The cost for the entire trek is USD 250 per porter, which covers meals, transportation, gear, insurance, and salary. Please let us know in advance if you wish to hire a porter.

Tips for Guide and Porter

Tipping is a common practice in Nepali tourism and is highly appreciated by guides and porters. Himalayan Trekking Path hires skilled, supportive, and local staff to ensure your journey is safe and enjoyable. While tips are not mandatory, offering a gratuity is a meaningful way to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. Your contribution directly supports their livelihood and shows respect for their efforts throughout your trek. We recommend providing tips at the end of the trek, based on your satisfaction and the level of service provided by your guide and porter.
