The Lumba Sumba Trek is a stunning, challenging, and rewarding journey located in the eastern region of Nepal, specifically within the Makalu Barun National Park and Kanchenjunga Conservation Areas. This trek features one of the least explored trails, necessitating several nights of camping in tents and teahouses, which means you will need an excellent team for the camping experience. The challenging Lumba Sumba Pass, standing at 5177 meters, requires a team familiar with these trekking routes. Although this trek was opened in 2012, it remains relatively undiscovered, attracting only a few travelers due to its lesser-known path. It offers a remarkable blend of culture, nature, and mountain vistas, making it a truly impressive and meaningful trekking destination in Nepal. Lumba Sumba Trek Itinerary

The Lumba Sumba Pass Trek is a comprehensive 20-day package that explores Nepal's pristine trekking routes, offering an exceptional experience of the Makalu and Kanchenjunga Treks, as well as the stunning Barun and Tamor Valleys, showcasing their unique cultures, lifestyles, flora, fauna, diverse climates, vegetation, and breathtaking landscapes. Our 20-day Lumba Sumba Pass trek begins with an airport pickup, allowing you to explore Kathmandu before taking a flight to Bhadrapur. From Bhadrapur, you will encounter tropical climates, charming villages, and picturesque tea gardens in Ilam, with the majestic Himalayan ranges rising beyond the verdant hills and lush valleys. Although the journey may not be comfortable, it is undeniably beautiful and awe-inspiring. Continuing to Taplejung, you will embark on the trek along untouched trails that reveal stunning natural beauty. This authentic path will lead you through magnificent landscapes and rare flora and fauna, alongside a medical hub. Each day, you will ascend to higher elevations, where the scenery becomes increasingly beautiful and clear. You will pass numerous villages and shelters, including Chirwa (1,270 m), Lelep (1,860 m), Illa Danda (2,051 m), Selep Kharka (2,520 m), and Olangchung Gola (3,208 m). Typically, this trek involves camping and staying in tea houses, making it an excellent way to explore the remote regions of the Himalayas. Beyond Olangchung Gola, you will make your way to the Lumba Sumba Pass (5177m), but you will need to stay at Upper Langmale and Luna Sumba Camp before reaching the pass. The trails are quite challenging and rugged. Once you summit the pass, you can enjoy the stunning mountains and glaciers before heading to Chauri Kharka. The return trek to Tumlingtar will take you through Thudam (3500m), Kharka (2870m), Chyamtang (2229m), Hatiya (1595m), Gola (1128m), and Hedangna Gadi (1180m), and from Num to Tumlingtar by drive. Finally, you will fly from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu, where you will be transferred to your hotel, and the next day, you will be dropped off at the airport for your departure.
