Overland Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Our 16-day Everest Base Camp trek begins in Kathmandu, traveling to Salleri via the BP Highway. If you wish to experience the Everest Base Camp trek without flying, this is the ideal choice. Start the overland Everest Base Camp trek with a scenic drive to Salleri, the most iconic Sherpa village, which offers rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and stunning layers of the mountains. Beyond Salleri, the journey to Surke involves an off-road trek covering a distance of 60 km, taking approximately 6 to 8 hours. The real trek commences from Surke, situated just below Lukla village. The trek begins with an uphill climb, crossing a suspension bridge to reach Yakkharka and Chheplung, and continues to Phakding via the Thado Kosi and Ghat. The trail ascends towards Namche Bazaar (3,440m), a traditional Sherpa town that serves as an excellent acclimatization spot before our ascent to higher altitudes with lower oxygen levels. Following this, we proceed through the villages of Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche, which are home to native Sherpa communities, ultimately arriving at Gorakshep. From here, we head towards the base of the world’s highest peak, known as Everest Base Camp. This location offers breathtaking views of snow-capped summits, including Mt. Everest (8,848m), alongside Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Cho Oyu, as well as other towering snowy peaks. Subsequently, an early morning hike to Kalapatthar provides spectacular sunrise views over the magnificent Himalayan range. In addition to being physically fit, trekkers must possess the endurance to tackle some challenging and steep ridges. The overall trek presents trekkers with remarkable landscapes and stunning mountain views, complemented by diverse flora and fauna, lush green grasslands, and forests rich in vegetation. Ultimately, this trek promises to reward trekkers with unforgettable memories for their relentless efforts. You will return to Lukla via the trekking route, and from Surke, you can drive back to Kathmandu.
